Most students have almost no knowledge of this, and while some may argue that we don't need it anymore with automatic processes, my 20+ years in IT would say otherwise. On too many occasions I've had to help students recover lost data, because they didn't know where it went, and all their files were named "newdocument(1)".įor those interested, I've created video instructions on how to export worlds on ChromeOS, iPad and PC. That said, I like to look at this as an opportunity to discuss and instruct on the importance of backups (per Debbie Alexander), file naming conventions and file management. Once done click again the 3 dots menu then select My Library.

I tried putting the entire server folder into my new pc but when I load up feather client it doesnt show up and I dont know how to import the world into the client. Once logged in click the 3 dots menu at the upper-right corner of the store. So I just built a computer to use for my server (since my 3 yr old laptop aint cutting it) and I cant figure out how to transfer my server to the other computer. Not everyone uses OneDrive of course, and the complexities of deploying a solution like this across multiple OS platforms would be a challenging endeavour and take a great deal of work on the part of the developers. On the new PC log in to the Microsoft store using the Microsoft account you used to purchase the game. Copy and Paste to a USB Drive - Copy and Paste to the new system. You can make a free server using Aternos or Minehut and transfer the files to that so you could play it everywhere but you have to have internet. But if you want to move your single player worlds, youll have to go to the '.Minecraft' folder, then go to 'saves', and copy every single file inside 'saves' into a USB and paste the files then in your new PCs. From there I dragged the file into my saves folder and the world showed up. To have Minecraft in your new PC you just go to and download it from there with your user, that simple. I transferred my single player world to another computer by copying the save folder pasting it into dropbox and accessing the file on the other computer. While having an automatic backup would certainly be helpful (particularly for younger students), I would hope it would be something where the default could be changed and file location mapped elsewhere. You can just transfer the save file from your computer to the Mac, but that they won’t be in sync. All my builds in world disappeared when transferring world to different computer.
